Honored with Trip to China

The Board of Education recognized four teachers who are retiring at the end of the 2007-2008 school year at a special reception in their honor. The Board of Education recognized the finalists from the Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School Grade 5 Declamation Contest held on May 22, 2008, and presented each of them with Certificates of Recognition signed by Mr. Klein and Chairman Hale.

The Board of Education recognized Daniel Hand High School World Languages Teacher Paul Curran, who is a recipient of the Fulbright Foundation Award to Non-Native Teachers of Chinese. Mr. Curran will travel to China this summer for six weeks of study. He was presented with a Certificate of Recognition signed by Mr. Klein and Chairman Hale. Madison School Teacher Visits Partner Public School in China

Student Named Semifinalists for 2007 Presidential Scholars Program

The Board of Education recognized Daniel Hand High School Junior Nicole Poulter, who was named Best Female Soloist at the recent 2008 Festivals of Music held in Virginia Beach, VA. Ms. Poulter was presented with a Certificate of Recognition signed by Mr. Klein and Chairman Hale.

The Board of Education recognized Walter C. Polson Middle School Social Studies Teacher Kate Robertson, who recently traveled to China to represent the Madison Public Schools in their Partnership with Taiain #6 Middle School in Shandong Province. Ms. Robertson was presented with a Certificate of Recognition signed by Mr. Klein and Chairman Hale. Pictured L-R are Jill Hale, Assistant Principal at Walter C. The Board of Education recognized Daniel Hand High School Senior Shuyang C. Luo, who was named a Semifinalist for the 2007 Presidential Scholars Program by the United States Department of Education. Ms. Luo was presented with a Certificate of Recognition signed by Mr. Klein and Chairman Hale.

DHHS Choir Receives 1st Place Honor
for 'Best Mixed Choir'

The Board of Education recognized their Student Representatives. Pictured with Mr. Klein and Chairman Hale are Daniel Hand High School Senior Emma Norris and Junior Tom Presti. The Board thanked them for their contributions and presented them each with a token gift of thanks.

The Board of Education recognized the Daniel Hand High School Waes Haeil Choir. They participated in the recent 2008 Festivals of Music in Virginia Beach, VA and earned the distinction Best Mixed Choir – First Place – Superior Rating. Pictured are Daniel Hand High School Choral Teacher Ron Soja and members of Waes Haeil, along with Mr. Klein and Chairman Hale.
