The Board of Education recognized Dr. Paul J. Sinicrope, Principal of Kathleen H. Ryerson Elementary School, who is retiring at the end of the 2008-2009 school year after 23 years of service to the Madison Public Schools. A special reception was held prior to the meeting in his honor. Dr. Sinicrope is pictured with members of the Board of Education.
Student Representatives
The Board of Education recognized their Student Representatives for the 2008-2009 School Year. Chairman Hale is pictured with Daniel Hand High School Junior Anna Balakrishnan. Senior Tom Presti was not able to attend the meeting. The Board thanked them for their contributions and gave them each a token gift of thanks.

Elementary Students of the Year
The Elementary Students of the Year awards were made at a regular luncheon meeting of the Madison Rotary Club on May 28, 2009 at Friends & Company. Students were selected based on the Rotary Code of Ethics which is known as the 4 Way Test (shown below) 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Characteristics of students – honest, respectful to each other and adults, belief in fair play, caring, thoughtful, friendly, seeking the good of all.
